AMSRA - Northeast Race #2
Race number two of the Northeast AMSRA was held on the fast Hillclimb at Dom's Raceway in Cream Ridge, NJ. As always, Dom and his wife Teri, rolled out the red carpet of hospitality and our racers really appreciated and loved the home made meatballs.
Dave Demott continued his winning ways in Indy/F-1 and took the checked flag over Joseph Rosales. Dave is undefeated in this class for the first two races, but the competition is getting tougher each race as more racers get these tricky cars dialed in. Matt Bruce took the final podium position, followed by Lou Cicconi and Dom Roselli.
The next class up was 4.0 NASCAR and we would run an Amateur and Expert race. The first race would be won by track owner and local ace, Dom Roselli, followed by Mike Spisak Sr. and "Big Bob" Lewis. In the Expert race, USSCA National Champion, Lou Cicconi would set the fast time for the race and a new fast lap record, but would fall out of contention early due to some inadvertent damage to his car. Joseph Rosales would take over the lead for a few heats, but Dave would bring it on strong and take over the lead after Joseph ran a weak red lane. The rest of the field would battle for the remaining podium spot and local hot shot Mike Spisak Jr. would take third, over Matt Bruce and Lou Cicconi.
GT-1 saw the best race of the day as we again ran Amateur and Expert races. The Amateur race would be close with the top three only separated by a couple of laps...however; Dom Roselli would take his second win of the day, followed by Mike Spisak Sr. and Bob Lewis. The Expert GT-1 race was also very close as the top five cars finished within 5 laps of the leader and three of those cars on the same lap. Dave "Deer in the Headlights" Demott would take his third win of the day over "Magnet" Mike Spisak Jr. Lou Cicconi would finish third followed by Matt Bruce and Joseph Rosales.
The entries were down this month for GT-12; however, we went ahead and ran the race with a few marshals missing. With limited marshals and too many track calls, this was not a pretty race. These cars are so fast on this track, and we were running so closely packed, that when something did happen in the wrong place, at the wrong time, well...it wasn't pretty. Matt added his second win of the season in this class ahead of, Joseph, Dom, Lou and Dave.
The Northeast AMSRA will hold our December race at Keystone Raceway in Palmyra, PA...the home track of the Penn/Jersey USRA and the the host of the USRA division #2 Nats to be held in April 2005. We expect some very fast racing and great competition.
